Getting out in the sun has been demonized by our present day society. Kids are now being taught at an early age to block the harmful effects of both UVA and UVB rays. All of us have been programmed into using tons of sunscreens to prevent the sun from hitting our skin and to keep slathering it on throughout the day when we're out in it. But is getting sun really as dangerous as health experts claim it is?
The real problem here is that the products that block the effects of the sun contain questionable and risky chemicals that get absorbed into your skin, and thus into your bloodstream. Once in the blood, they are carried to every part of your body. No one seems to know the long term effects of how much damage those chemicals might do over time. That's down right scary to think about! When you keep applying them to your skin day in and day out, there's no telling how many extra toxins you're taking in and the adverse effects they may have!
There's no doubt that humans today are bombarded by chemicals from various sources. We get them from the foods we munch on, the multitude of products we use, the clothes we buy, and the air we breathe. I highly doubt this is what mother nature had in mind when the earth was created! Seems to me that sunshine should be the very least of our worries.
When you're out in the sun, you're at least breathing fresh air and soaking up some vitamin D. If you're worried about scorching your skin, you can take extra carotenoid vitamins (antioxidant) that help block the rays that burn. If you're going to be out in the sun for prolonged periods of time, you can wear protective clothing or a wide-brimmed hat to help keep the rays from penetrating your skin. Other measures you can take are to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen when you need to use one and opt for chemical free products when you can.
It's a fact that doctors used to recommend getting regular sunshine. It was prescribed, just as eating an apple a day was, to keep the doctor away. Getting back to the basics is exactly what more people need to do to regain wellness. And soaking up some rays of sunshine should be a regular part of your long term health plan.
