Families That Struggle With Addiction

By Jermal Nit

Are you crying today because you have an addict living in your family? Many sisters are finding their brothers addicted to drugs. Many parents are finding their daughters passing out from drug use. Many families don't know how to help their loved one to stay sober and drug free. It takes an entire family to come together in order to see addicts having any hope. Many treatment centers in the United States are trying to help addicts to learn more about sobriety. It is often hard to get someone into treatment if they lack the right medical insurance.

Many insurance companies today will not pay for treatment. Many medical billers are having a hard time processing insurance claims for families that do not have the right medical insurance. Many medical insurance companies are not willing to pay for full treatment of an addict. Often a family contribution for someone with insurance is between $5,000 and $10,000. The price of treatment is often $30,000 plus $7,000 for detox. Treatment is not cheap and many addicts are finding that they cannot get help because of the high costs associated with treatment.

Many drugs today are manufactured in Mexico. I am talking about illegal drugs like meth, cocaine, heroin and molly. You will find that these drugs are making it into the United States at alarming rates. They are being widely distributed in white middle class suburbs. It is uncertain as to why these areas are targeted the most. State like New York, Florida and New Jersey seem to have higher amounts of heroin coming into the states. In order to combat this, more treatment has to be given.

How can you help a family member that has an addiction problem and no money to pay for treatment? For starters, get them to a local hospital as soon as possible. Often, hospitals have drug and alcohol programs set up to help addicts to get sober. Sometimes there is a waiting list. However, many hospitals have lists of treatment centers in your area that are low cost or have resources that can help you. Getting help for a loved one takes time. If you think about it, family members often find help when they least expect.

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes time to get out of your system. You often have to look at yourself and ask the question, "How bad do you want to get off drugs?" Families often have a hard time convincing their loved one to step taking drugs. It is often difficult for families to get help for their loved ones as well. Medical billing companies say that getting treatment all depends on the type of insurance that you have. It is often hard to find an insurance policy that covers treatment.
